COAL STOCK YARD

STACK: Management of coal stock-yard:

Coal air interaction is the most important phenomenon for anti-oxidation and spontaneous combustion  dry coal vs wet air is the most critical
Moist coal – dry air is the least critical combination.

March – June is the critical period for spontaneous fires close monitoring should be done during this period by measuring temperature of coal stock pile.

Coal stock yard should be designed in such a way that for maximum duration of the year the air strikes the width and not the length of the stock pile.

Height of stack pile as applicable to Indian Coals should not be more than 9-10 Meters.
